JFK AIRTRAIN

Queens, NY

PROJECT SCOPE

The result of a 20-year planning effort, this system offers a one-seat ride from the Jamaica and Howard Beach Stations to JFK International Airport and consists of an 8.4-mile grade-separated trackway, 2 miles of which are located within the airport's central terminal area. A fully automated 4-car train stops at 6 stations serving the 9 existing airline terminals, as well as long-term parking and service facilities. DGA designed all architectural lighting systems for interior and exterior spaces at the 9 stations including platforms, connectors, lobbies, transfer nodes, and exterior canopies. Our scope of work included emergency lighting for the trackway and the introduction of signature, custom designed luminaires.
