STILLWELL AVENUE

STATION

New York, NY

PROJECT SCOPE

Not just another station for New York City Transit, but an end-of-the line terminal and shed that, when completed in 2004, boasted the largest photovoltaic installation in North America (76,000SF). The structure’s distinctive shape was articulated by indirect illumination via the era’s most efficient white light technology, pulse-start metal halide.  DGA also lit all 4 platforms utilizing NYCT’s standard linear fluorescent lighting system, integrating speakers, separate emergency lighting, and accessible ballast compartments for ease of maintenance.
